چکیده

In the framework of the dialog between P systems and Microbiology, in this paper we focus on the magnetotactic behavior of magnetotactic bacteria, namely the orientation along the Earth’s geomagnetic field lines. Magnetic properties and magnetotactic behavior could be used to obtained microand nanoactuators for the desired distribution at nanometer level of either intact magnetotactic bacteria or isolated intact magnetosomes with significant potential application in the construction of magnetic logic gates. Furthermore, (precise) distribution of intact magnetotactic bacteria or isolated intact magnetosomes by carefully using rather strong external magnetic fields could be described by P systems as a discontinuous process, whose potential for nanoactuators and magnetic microchips is increasing in evidence.

A Preliminary Report on the Isolation and Identification of Magnetotactic bacteria from Iran Environment

Several species of Magnetotactic bacteria have been discovered recently. These bacteria synthesize intracellular magnetic nanoparticles in specific sizes and shapes and arrange them in chains. These particles called magnetosomes and can be used for drug-delivery, cell-targeting and hyperthermia. Magnetotactic bacteria navigate along the magnetic field; this process is known as ‘magnetotaxis’ wh...

جداسازی باکتری های مگنتوتاکتیک تولید کننده نانوذرات آهن از خاک معدن آهن ارجین استان زنجان

Background and Aim: Iron nanoparticles are broadly used in medical science, particularly in synthesis of fluorescence biomarkers, cancerous tumor therapy by hyperthermia, and as a contrast agent in MRI. Physical and chemical synthesis methods currently used to produce nanoparticles cause environmental contamination. Certain bacteria are capable of synthesizing significant amounts of iron nanopa...

Ferromagnetic resonance spectroscopy for assessment of magnetic anisotropy and magnetostatic interactions: A case study of mutant magnetotactic bacteria

[1] Ferromagnetic resonance spectroscopy (FMR) can be used to measure the effective magnetic field within a sample, including the contributions of both magnetic anisotropy and magnetostatic interactions. One particular use is in the detection of magnetite produced by magnetotactic bacteria. These bacteria produce single-domain particles with narrow size and shape distributions that are often el...

Microscopy studies on uncultivated magnetotactic bacteria

Magnetotactic bacteria are characterized by the magnetosome, a membrane-bound, nano-sized organelle containing a magnetic crystal. This organelle is believed to help the bacteria to navigate along the geomagnetic field lines and find a preferred habitat for survival. The magnetosome is a biomineral structure highly controlled by the bacteria, composed of either magnetite (Fe3O4) or greigite (Fe...

Preparation of genomic DNA from a single species of uncultured magnetotactic bacterium by multiple-displacement amplification.

Magnetotactic bacteria comprise a phylogenetically diverse group that is capable of synthesizing intracellular magnetic particles. Although various morphotypes of magnetotactic bacteria have been observed in the environment, bacterial strains available in pure culture are currently limited to a few genera due to difficulties in their enrichment and cultivation. In order to obtain genetic inform...
